Recently, the Ministry of Transport issued the "Highway Engineering Design Information Model Application Standards" (JTG/T 2421-2021, referred to as "Standards"), which is a recommended standard for the highway engineering industry and will come into force on June 1, 2021. For convenience To understand the background, positioning and main content of the "Standard", and to do a good job in its implementation, the "Standard" is now interpreted as follows:

One, background

The digitization of highway infrastructure is the main content and basic work for accelerating the construction of a strong transportation country and promoting the development of smart highways. The extensive application of BIM technology in my country's highway engineering has accelerated the digital development of the highway industry and promoted the coordinated development of highway design, construction, and operation and maintenance technologies. In order to meet the needs of the application of BIM technology in my country's highway industry, promote the sound development and life-cycle application of highway engineering BIM technology, and further improve the application level and digitization level of highway engineering life-cycle BIM technology, our ministry has formulated the highway engineering BIM technology foundation Standards, determine the highway facility model architecture, model coding, data format and other issues, and standardize the technical requirements for the application of information models in the entire life cycle of highway projects, and lay the foundation for the next step of highway digitization.

2. "Standard" positioning

The "Standard" aims to standardize the basic requirements for the application of BIM technology in the design phase of highway engineering, clarify technical requirements such as collaborative design, model application, and model delivery, and realize the effective sharing of models and information in the design phase and the transfer to the construction phase. The "Standard" is applicable to the preliminary design, technical design and construction drawing design stages, covering majors such as routes, subgrades and pavements, bridges and culverts, tunnels, traffic engineering and facilities along the route.

3. Main content

On the basis of fully summarizing the relevant BIM technical standards and research results at home and abroad, the "Standard" has formulated regulations and requirements that are suitable for the characteristics of my country's highway engineering industry and are conducive to the application of BIM technology in the design stage from the needs of highway engineering design. The "Standard" includes 7 chapters and 10 appendices, which are: 1 general; 2 terminology; 3 basic regulations; 4 model requirements; 5 collaborative design; 6 application; 7 delivery; appendix A model fineness; appendix B project; appendix C Route; Appendix D roadbed; Appendix E road surface; Appendix F bridges; Appendix G culverts; Appendix H tunnels; Appendix J traffic engineering and facilities along the route; Appendix K terrain and geology. The main contents include:

(1) Collaborative design: According to the requirements of highway engineering application BIM technology, combined with the characteristics of highway engineering projects, from the aspects of collaborative platform selection, collaborative work content, collaborative design process, etc., standardize the collaborative design of highway engineering information models, and propose that each stage of the design needs to be formulated Collaborate goals and implementation plans, determine key nodes such as information exchange, proofreading and review, exchange methods and content, and collaborative design processes to ensure the effective sharing and transmission of information among various disciplines.

(2) Model application: Based on the investigation of many highway engineering projects, starting from the characteristics of BIM technology and highway design requirements, five typical applications of design stages are proposed for visual analysis, scheme comparison and selection, collision inspection, model drawing, and engineering quantity statistics. It is recommended to apply BIM technology in the design process to improve design quality.

(3) Model delivery: In accordance with the overall requirements of the "Uniform Standard for the Application of Highway Engineering Information Models" (JTG/T 2420-2021), referring to the "Methods for the Preparation of Design Documents for Highway Engineering Capital Construction Projects", for preliminary design, technical design and construction drawings For the deliverables of the information model in the design phase, determine two different model fineness levels, L2.0 and L3.0, and specify the composition of deliverables, model content and depth in detail, and reserve corresponding extension interfaces to ensure the information model The delivery content and depth are consistent.

IV. Implementation precautions

Since this "standard" is a newly compiled standard and runs through the design stage, the following matters should be noted during the implementation process:

(1) Used in conjunction with relevant specifications. The "Standard" should be used in accordance with the "Unified Standards for the Application of Highway Engineering Information Models" (JTG/T 2420-2021), "The Standards for the Application of Highway Engineering Construction Information Models" (JTG/T 2422-2021) and related standards and specifications for highway engineering design. And other supporting use.

(2) Continue to track the effect of the implementation of the "Standard". In the application of the "standard", we should continue to track the implementation effect, pay attention to the adaptability and coordination with the actual road engineering construction management, pay attention to the applicability of the existing BIM software tools, strengthen the feedback and analysis of the application of BIM technology, and summarize the project in time Application experience will further improve the application level and effect of BIM technology, and lay a more solid foundation for the development of BIM technology in highway engineering.

(3) Carefully organize publicity and implementation training. The "Standard" is widely used in highway construction, serving the departments in charge of transportation, surveying, designing, and management in various provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government). It is necessary to effectively organize publicity and implementation training in accordance with the actual work, so that technical personnel can accurately understand the "standard" and use the "standard" correctly.
